June 19 saw big news about bigger news out of Honda headquarters in Torrance, CA. A live-in-Detroit and YouTube live-streamed event is set for July 14. And if an accompanying Honda concept sketch is any indication, it's that the Honda gala plans to showcase the upcoming 2018 Honda Accord, a sedan that looks to be more than midsize business as usual.
2018 Honda Accord will, in fact, feature a comprehensive bumper-to-bumper redesign, with, according to the automaker, a "dramatic new styling direction," complete with a lean, competitive stance and some attention-capturing proportion changes. Appearing in line with the recent Honda performance tack, evinced by the Honda Civic Si and the suggestiveness of an upcoming Honda Civic Type R in the fall, three available fuel-efficient powertrains present, two of which offer direct-injected, turbocharged builds. Pair them with the promise of a new Honda-developed 10-speed automatic, a continuously variable transmission, or a 6-speed manual, and new vistas ought to open wide for the sport experience. Honda even plans to offer 2018 Accord in a two-motor hybrid powertrain iteration to go the fuel-economical distance.
With the big reveal of the new Honda Accord right around the corner, we wait excitedly. In the meantime, you're welcome to visit us here at Larry H.
